Dear Future Self
Dear Future Self,
I’m writing because there are going to be some really tough and scary times ahead, and I want you to remember a few things when you find yourself at the end of your tether wanting to just give in and give up, so tired and so dispairing that you would even wish to leave this world before your time.
First of all, if you do indeed find yourself in that kind of mind frame, stop and drop whatever you are doing. Roll if you want to. If it helps. But stop. Stop making decisions. Stop interacting. Stop thinking. Breath and be, and remember that your destiny has nothing to do with your mind or body. You are so much bigger. And all of this is just a moment in one dream.
Then, re-member yourself. Seek out all those dismembered parts of you…the ones that hurt too much, that were too disappointed, too confused, too vulnerable, too ugly even. Gather them up and bring them in close and listen to what they have to say. Listen as they beseech you to just love it all. Love what hurts. Let it break you open. Love the disappointments that shatter illusion. Love the confusion that makes sensemaking impossible. Love your vulnerable, tender heart. Love it all; then put your broken self back together into one Godly whole.
And then, let Life fill you. Just open and receive it all. Fill yourself with the power that is your birthright, your essence. Turn on the tap and let it flood you from bottom to top. Let is keep pouring in, and in, and in until you are completely overflowing with all that grace and majesty. Cry out to your ancestors. Cry out to the angels, saintes and healers. They know you. They love you. Let them come. Let them add to your strength and resolve. Let them hold you. For God’s sake, let them love you and know you have legions at your back.
And then, when you’re ready, but only when you’re ready, take a deep breath, stand up, and live to live another minute, another hour, another day.
You got this!
