Fear is Fear
I was just listening to a Darkhorse podcast discussing whether we can forgive those who were in fear during the last few years (I can’t bear to say Covid or pandemic or even scam) who helped usher in so many insane rules and regulations that have erased our liberties and cleared the way for more governmental control.
As I was scrolling through the comments, I came upon a section about the righteous fear of those who could see what was happening and were helpless to stop it and the ongoing fear for injured loved ones, children, and what yet might be put in place under the pretences of the last few years.
Along with the usual, “turn to Jesus” reply, others expressed anger and the need for justice. I won’t comment of that. Rather I just want to take a moment to consider: if fear got us into this monsterous mess, is fear likely to be of any benefit going forward? I think not.
Fear is fear...it's all in the head. If we give into it, justified or not, we are creating conditions that we're going to have to live with. If we take away anything from this mess, maybe it should be the immediate need to overcome fears of our projections and just deal with the real. Otherwise, we're no different from and have learned nothing from those who succumbed.
Can we forgive those who did succumb? It’s an interesting question and each of us will have our own answer based on our own definitions of what forgiveness even is. Maybe a more revealing question is, are you willing to live in bitterness, anger, or even hatred for the rest of your days? I’m not.
I can forgive. But it is impossible to forget.
